Clear It Out's Halloween Challenge this week to make something for the holiday and use an orange stash item. The boys and I went shopping for some Halloween gear this weekend, and I found this plain witch hat at our local craft store, so I decided to dress it up and use it for a tablescape. Here's what I did...
For the base design, I just traced the bottom of the hat onto my DSP and then cut out the middle so that it slid over the top of the hat and then glued it on.
Now for the fun stuff! The black feather with glittery orange balls came from the same store and was a Halloween pick. I wanted it to look like a fancy hat feather sticking out, so I made a slit in the hat close to the base of the cone and slid it in. The black feathery stuff is just a spiderwebby yarn that you can get in the sewing/yarn section of just about any craft store. I simply hot-glued it around the edge and the middle to soften up the edges of the hat.
For my final touches, I added the glittered orange spider and my Stitchy Bear Witch tag with an orange rhinestone brad.
Thanks for looking! Join us for the challenge this week!
